TFAC’s Main Stage: Bringing big stars to our small town

Who knew in 1969 that the Tryon Fine Arts Center would become an established presenting performing arts center of such caliber? In the beginning, TFAC served as a center for cultural and arts groups in the community. Over a decade ago, TFAC began presenting its own season and offering many other arts opportunities.
Now, it is a vibrant performing and visual arts center with a strong arts in education program, the likes of which few communities this size can boast.
These past years have shown amazing growth in the Main Stage Series, expanding from a couple of offerings with decent ticket sales to the past several seasons that have exceeded expectations in both the quality of performances presented and the overwhelming response from the community, resulting in many sold-out performances.
This season TFAC presented award-winning programs from the classical-crossover Annie Moses Band: American Rhapsody, the rhythm and blues of Sonny Knight and the Lakers to the Big Easy sound of A Night in New Orleans.
Mixed into this musical variety was Walnut Street Theater’s hauntingly poetic Moon for the Misbegotten. This year’s season will conclude April 23 with Franc D’Ambrosio’s Broadway: Songs of the Great White Way, a show not to be missed!
For a small 315-seat theater, the quality and variety of presentations is outstanding. In addition to providing the caliber of performers that Tryon’s audience appreciates, TFAC has also managed to keep tickets prices competitive. This is due in large part to the generosity of the community through donations to the Annual Fund.
In order to continue what is becoming a tradition of excellence, please make your pledge or gift to the 2016 Annual Fund campaign which ends June 30.
