Recently the Tryon Downtown Development Association, through a grant from the Carolina Foothills Chamber Foundation, and together with the Town of Tryon, installed a much-needed new basketball hoop to replace one that fell into disrepair at the Roseland Community Center. The grant also funded extra heavy-duty nets and balls. Other organizations have since come forward to offer a ball rack, a bench, and possibly other amenities to add to the court. Pictured at Roseland are Janet Sciacca, Chamber of Commerce executive director; Randy Dudlley, Town of Tryon Public Works; Roy Miller, town commissioner; Jamie Carpenter, TDDA executive director; Wanda May, TDDA president; Mabel Smith, neighborhood resident; Keana Smith; and Daija Smith.
