St. Luke’s Hospital celebrated more than two dozen staff members who have dedicated five or more years of service during its annual Service Awards luncheon on Tuesday, March 8, at Sunnydale in Tryon. St. Luke’s team members were treated to a presidential-themed reception with a television game show-style game, guest speakers from hospital leadership, and a meal catered by Southside Smokehouse and Grille.

CEO Ken Shull opened the program with a welcome speech celebrating the dedication of those in attendance. Jean Shumway, vice chair of the board of trustees, followed Shull with a personal thanks and congratulations, and Vice President of Support Services Amy Norville provided the invocation.

Staff who had committed long-term service to St. Luke’s in increments of five years at the time of the event were awarded pins and certificates.

Those who received recognition for five years of service were Ashley Ashley, Glenda Bivens, Stephen Cefalu, Jamie Cehlar, Meshelle Colvin, Margie Conner, Gayle Cook, Chardae Foster, Hector Gonzalez, Rosemarie Haynes, Lourene Hicks, Sharon Hodge, Chasity Jimerson, Melissa Metcalf, Scott Mills, Jason Sain, and Gerald Tary.

Receiving certificates for 10 years were Shanna Adrianse, Nancy Bailey, Jennifer Bryan, Jean High, Scott Knestaut, Connie Kuykendall, Amy Norville, Patricia Nyberg, Janet Ruff, Rita Ruff, and Brent Seagle.

Recognition of 15 years went to Darlene Denton, Lisa Flynn, Debra Moore, and Cynthia Taylor. Those who had served for 20 years were Deanna Amsler, Wanda Gosnell, Gregory Miner, and Keith White.

Vickie Biggins of Materials Management received her award for 25 years of service, and Reba Williams of Surgery received recognition for 30 years. Jim Barnett in Emergency received the award for the longest service of 35 years.

“Recognizing and affirming the importance of our teammates is one of our guiding behaviors at St. Luke’s Hospital,” Norville said. “So many people on our team have put in an impressive amount of time and energy to our mission of providing the highest quality healthcare for our patients. We can’t thank or recognize them enough.”

Norville also recognized the floristry department of Food Lion in Columbus for donating roses to be used as centerpieces in the red, white, and blue decor.
