Polk County has a new head softball coach, Billy Alm, but team performance looks familiar, after the Wolverines slugged their way past Gaffney, 6-4, in the March 7 season opener at Gaffney.

Polk’s Hayley Kropp bashed a third-inning grand slam, to help seal the win. Overall, Kropp was three-for-four, with five RBI, and a stolen base.

Teammates Haley Fowler (two-for-four, two runs, one stolen base), Autumn Owen (one-for-two with two walks), Maranda Gosnell (double), Karli Wood (one hit) Ansley Lynch (one hit, one run, two stolen bases) and Morgan Stott (one walk, one run) all bolstered the offense.
