Columbus discovers psychedelic mushroom grow

The Columbus Police Department arrested a Columbus man last week for growing psychedelic mushrooms at his home.
Mark Cole Lanning, 19, of 546 Blanton St., Columbus was arrested and charged with manufacturing a schedule I controlled substance, maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance, possession with intent to sell and deliver a controlled substance, simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the police report.
Columbus officers executed a search warrant at Lanning’s home on Feb. 25 after obtaining information regarding a possible indoor grow operation.
The mushrooms are psilocybin mushrooms, also known as psychedelic mushrooms, according to the Columbus Police Department.
Lanning was given a $10,000 secured bond and is currently out on bond. He appeared in court on Feb. 29 for his first appearance.
