Carlyle “Buzz” Lown, age 97, passed away on March 2, 2016 at Autumn Care of Saluda, N.C.

He was born on May 18, 1918 in Pine Plains, N.Y., the son of Perry and Hazel Lown. He lived in Clinton Corners and Poughkeepsie, N.Y. before moving to Columbus, N.C. in January of 2013.

He worked at Western Printing and Publishing Company for 35 years.

He honorably served his country in the United States Army.

He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Vivian L. Lown, his daughter, Andrea C. Lown, his son Jeffrey L. Lown and daughter-in-law Jo Jean Lown; three grandchildren, Kristin A. Lown, Eric Lown and Jamie Lown; daughter-in law Ann Marie Verdi, mother of Kristin and Eric Lown; three great grandchildren, Evan Lown, Emma Lown and Abby Lown.

The family wishes to express their thanks and gratitude to the entire staff of Autumn Care of Saluda and Hospice of the Carolina Foothills for the excellent care given to him. A special thanks to Jane Foster of Hospice for the wonderful care she gave him.

There will be no visitation or funeral service.
