Vivian E. Smith, 92, of Tryon passed away on Feb. 26, 2016. She was a retired lieutenant commander of the US Navy Nurse Corps.

She is survived by a brother, Carl Smith of Tryon, and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by a brother, Roy W. Smith, and four sisters, Mildred M. Smith, Margaret Culbreth, Anne Carter and Kathryne Dula.

The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016 at Petty Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 29, 2016 at Petty Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Allen McKinney and Chaplain Justin Nelson.  Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
