Kiwanians cookin’ up some chili supper

Published 10:00 pm Monday, February 1, 2016

With the snow that the area received a couple weeks back, it is evident that winter is finally here. Is there anything better on one of these cold nights than a big ole bowl of delicious chili? The Kiwanis Club of Tryon hears your call and is bringing back this crowd-pleaser.

The local Kiwanis chapter in Tryon will host its fourth annual chili supper Saturday, Feb. 6 from 5-7 p.m. at Holy Cross Episcopal Church.

The men and women of Kiwanis plan to labor over hot stoves on Saturday to bring the community huge pots of warm chili with all the fixings. Cheese, sour cream, cornbread and salad are all on the menu to enhance the meal. Plus, if you have ever been to one of the fundraiser meals the Kiwanis club puts on, the desserts are worth the ticket price by themselves.

In a hurry and can’t stay? Not a problem. They have to-go meals available for people on the run.

Tickets are available at the door, Owens Pharmacy, or from any Kiwanis Club of Tryon member. Proceeds go to the Kiwanis Scholarship Fund. See you there!
