Harold “Bill” Neal, Sr.

Harold “Bill” Neal, Sr., 82, of Chesnee, S.C. passed away Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016. Born October 20, 1933 in Greenville County, he was the widower of Sue Potter Neal whom he was married to for nearly 60 years, and the son of the late Jesse Fred Neal and Lelia Holder Neal.
He worked as a supervisor for the telephone company in Tryon, N.C., was a member of Mayo First Baptist Church, a Master Mason in the Polk County Unity Lodge #482 in Tryon, N.C. and proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Korean Era. Mr. Neal was also a retired fireman and a pilot, which was his main hobby.
He is survived by his children, Billy Neal, Jr. (Ornella), Barry Neal (Angie), Wanda McSwain (Kerry), Amy Hougasian (Steve), and Don Cordell, who was loved like a son; daughter in-law, Lori Neal; sisters, Shirley Roach and Jessie Dunn; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Tony Neal and sister, Dorothy Cash.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Springhill Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Daryl Tolleson and the Rev. Allen Dean Blanton officiating. Interment will follow the services with Masonic Rites and Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 130 Forest Glen Drive, Columbus, NC 28722.
The family welcomes visitation at the home at 212 Lottie Lane, Chesnee, S.C., at their convenience.
