President eligibility

To the editor:
The men who wrote our Constitution specified in Article II “No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of the President.”
The intent was that he should be raised in our freedom loving culture. Not all cultures are compatible. Attitudes toward untruthfulness, suicide, and religious tolerance to name a few vary among cultures. These men anticipated problems that would arise if someone that was brought up in an alien culture would become our president.
It has been suggested recently that this requirement should be eliminated. The early years in ones life play a major part in determining lifetime attitudes. I believe Article II is fine just the way it is.
