Saluda City Hall open house Nov. 7

Local residents are invited to tour the newly renovated Saluda City Hall and Police Department during an open house scheduled for Nov. 7. Residents can tour upstairs and downstairs of the building from 2-4 p.m.

Saluda and Landrum approve CROP Walk proclamations

The cities of Landrum and Saluda approved proclamations in support of CROP Walk Hunger Day to be held on Oct. 18 at Harmon Field. Residents are encouraged to attend. The event begins at 4 p.m.

Saluda delinquent utility bill update

Saluda Commissioner Lynn Cass reported during the city’s Oct. 12 meeting that there were 37 utility accounts 30 days or more late and six accounts 60 or more days late that will be receiving notice of cutoff. The total amount past due was $6,258 with $1,223 of that in late fees.

Saluda to re-sand library floors

The City of Saluda approved a bid during its Oct. 12 meeting to sand the floors at the library. The bid was approved from Quality Floor Service Inc. for $1,702. The same company sanding the floors in 2004 for a cost of $1,935. Saluda City Administrator Jonathan Cannon said he has put library floor sanding on the calendar to be done on a 10-year rotation.

Tryon council switches meeting room to town hall

Beginning on Tuesday, Oct. 20, Tryon Town Council will meet in the McCowan room of Tryon Town Hall instead of the Tryon Fire Department. Recent renovations and relocation of offices has made the move possible. Tryon’s meeting on Tuesday begins at 7 p.m.
