Phyllis Ann Conrad

Phyllis Ann (Carter) Conrad, 92, died Monday, Sept. 28, 2015 at Tryon Estates, in Columbus, N.C.

Born in St. Louis, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Dr. William Carter and Mabel (Johnston) Carter.  She was a graduate of the University of Illinois, and a member Alpha Chi Omega Sorority and Daughters of the American Revolution. She spent many years dedicating her time and volunteering at numerous hospitals. Phyllis was a golf enthusiast and enjoyed antiquing especially art glass.

Roy and Phyllis met at the University of Illinois. The two kept in touch while Roy served in the Armed Forces and were married in 1944. Roy and Phyllis resided in Peoria and Moline most of their lives before retiring to Florida in 1988. They relocated to Connestee Falls in Brevard, N.C. and then to Tryon Estates where they have resided for the past 12 years.

Surviving is her husband of 71 years Roy M. Conrad. In addition to her husband, are three sons Jeff (Mary) of Houston Texas, James (Cathie) of The Villages, Fla., Bruce (Pu) of Thailand, and a daughter Sarah (Brad) Snow of Greeley, Colo. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, 2015 in the auditorium at Tryon Estates.
