To the editor:

 

I would like to applaud all of the Polk County folks who got up to speak at Monday’s commissioner meeting. The issue of reinstating the animal investigators was an emotionally charged one and all of you conducted yourselves knowledgeably, respectfully and professionally.

 

I wish I could say the same for the commissioners who started this petty, childish, but devastatingly consequential matter. Messrs. Pack and Holbert, I believe that you have lost sight of the fact that you were elected to represent the people AND the animals of Polk County and while I’m sure whatever you were both poring over on the desk in front of you was oh so critical, the people of Polk County deserve your undivided attention when they come before you to speak.

 

Keeping your heads down throughout public comments is rude and disrespectful and shame on you for being too childish and petty to know that.
