Congressional candidate Andy Millard begins seven-county quest to meet constituents where they live
Andy Millard, candidate for US House of Representatives for N.C.’s 10th Congressional District, wants to meet the 740,000 people of the district – or at least as many as he can. The current U.S. Congress has the lowest approval rating in history. Millard believes building a better congress starts with listening to people and getting first hand knowledge about their concerns.
“I believe we have to make people’s concerns our first priority if we want a better US Congress,” Millard states. “I am willing to go the distance to do just that.”
In an effort to meet and hear from as many people in the district as possible, Millard will literally pound the pavement. His campaign staff has been hard at work planning a six-week event dubbed “Tour the Tenth” – running, walking and cycling the entire length, width and breadth of the 10th Congressional District.
The tour will begin on Saturday, Sept. 19 at the campaign headquarters at 60 Walker St. Columbus, N.C. at 11 a.m. and end at the same place on Friday, Oct. 30. In between, Millard will run, walk and/or cycle an average of eight to 15 miles per day, covering the seven counties of the 10th district, including all the cities and most of the towns and villages. Along the way, he’ll stop frequently to visit communities and points of interest.
The tour can be followed online at www.MillardForCongress.com, Facebook (Millard for Congress), Twitter (MillardForNC) and Instagram. The tour calendar will be posted on the website, as will photos and weekly video updates. Log on to see when Millard will be in your neighborhood or watch your local paper for the dates when he will be in your community.
The campaign has issued two “Tour Challenges:”
1st Challenge – Come out and meet the candidate and tell him what’s on your mind. When you meet Andy, take a selfie with him. Post the selfie on the Millard for Congress Facebook page or Instagram. A campaign contribution has been pledged for each selfie posted.
2nd Challenge – As Andy is touring the district, he will be photographed at various locations. If you recognize the location, post that location on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. It also counts to spot the Millard for Congress RV and post its location.
Citizens are encouraged to stop and talk to Andy when they see him.
