Polk still considering 5-year transportation plan
The Polk County Board of Commissioners plan to continue discussions on a 5-year service plan for its transportation authority. The draft plan includes new rates, a feasibility study for a new facility, new communication technology, the installation of a deviated fixed route between Tryon and Mill Spring, the hiring of a mobility, marketing and outreach coordinator and two full time drivers, as well as other changes. A public hearing will have to be held if the rates for rides change.
Polk approves six-month extension on Odom engineering services
Polk County commissioners approved a budget amendment of $22,500 to extend county engineer Dave Odom’s service for another six months. Odom ended his contract last month, but commissioners said they need his services in order to have an engineer on staff. Commissioners approved during its Aug. 10 meeting a budget amendment transferring $22,500 from its water operating fund to cover the next six months.
Polk working on new personnel policy
Polk County commissioners discussed during its Aug. 10 meeting a draft personnel policy that has been updated by human resource officer Patti Wagner. Commissioners decided to bring the draft policy back to its next meeting, scheduled for Aug. 24 to approve.
