Despite frustrations, this community comes together

To the editor:

As a regular reader of the Tryon Daily Bulletin I have noticed a lot of animosity towards both the Board of County Commissioners water project as well as the proposed Duke Energy plan. People are frustrated and understandably so but I was told growing up that no matter how much bad is happening in the world to look for the people who are helping because there are ALWAYS people helping!

As I flip through this newspaper every day I am amazed by the passionately written letters to the editor, the gathering of community members to support local causes, (like the massive donation of school supplies for children in need) and the educational articles on issues that affect families everywhere, (such as the overdose prevention project or PTSD awareness information).

Every day in this community people are helping one another, through big and small acts of kindness and it is truly amazing to see this simple beauty take place.

Hope everyone can take the time to smile at a stranger today, hold the door for an older man or woman, donate clothes to a local charity, walk a rescue dog at Foothills Humane Society, go to an event to support a local cause, tip your waiter or waitress too well or write a passionate letter to create some change.

Here’s to all the helpers.
