Robert Vucha

Robert William Vucha passed away Friday, June 12, 2015 just a few months shy of his 92nd birthday. Roberts’s wife Jeanne passed away this January. They would have been married 70 years in March.

Robert was born in Chicago and after a year at Northwestern University he enlisted in the Army Air Corp with service in WWII as a B17 bombardier and navigator flying out of England. After WWII, he and Jeanne raised their children in the Chicago area. In 1977 Robert and Jeanne moved to Tryon. They were among the founding members of the Carolina Carriage Club and for many years enjoyed the many horse and social activities involved with the club.

Surviving are three children, Susan, Peter and Barbara; grandchildren, Anne, Alex, Ellie and Heather and four great-grandchildren.

A celebration of his life will be held at his home later in the summer.

The family would like to thank the staff at White Oak Manor for their wonderful kind care given to both Robert and Jeanne Vucha and also thank you to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills for caring for Robert in his last days, making him as comfortable as possible.
