Spartanburg District One names new assistant principals at June board meeting

The District One Board of Trustees approved the appointment of two assistant principals at the June Board meeting on Monday night.

Mrs. Christy Papala was appointed assistant principal at Inman Elementary School. Mrs. Papala currently is a fifth grade teacher at Powdersville Elementary School in Anderson District One. She has worked most recently with science and STEM programs and has led professional development for her district and at national conferences.

Mrs. Papala has a BA in Elementary Education from the University of South Carolina Upstate, a master’s of education degree from Southern Wesleyan University, and the educational specialist degree in administration and leadership from Clemson University. Mrs. Papala states that she enjoys reading, watching her children play soccer, church work, fishing and hiking. She is a native of Berea, S.C., and has eight years teaching experience.

Mr. Kegan Flynn will serve as assistant principal at Landrum High School. Mr. Flynn attended Broome High School and received his BA in social studies from Presbyterian College.  He received his master’s in the art of teaching from Converse College.

He also holds the educational specialist degree from Converse College in administration and leadership. Mr. Flynn has been a teacher and coach at both Landrum and Chapman High Schools since 2002.  He has been Teacher of the Year and AA Strength Coach of the Year.
