Polk County High School’s 4×800 meter relay team won the NCHSAA 2A State Championship on May 16. Team members Caleb Brown, Nate Smart, Jacob Wolfe, and Sean Doyle ran 8:03.06. This qualified the team for the New Balance Outdoor Track and Field Nationals on June 19 at NCA&T University in Greensboro.
This is the first male relay team to win a state title, and it is the first in school history to qualify for nationals. We are asking the community to help support the team by contributing to their expenses. The 4×800 meter relay team is seeking financial support to attend this prestigious event. These are the first athletes to qualify for nationals since 2012 when the girls 4×400 relay team went to the New Balance Indoor Nationals in New York.
The estimated cost $700 which will cover entry fees, mandatory USATF membership cards and other expenses incurred by the athletes. Donations can be made at the school or mailed to PCHS Track Team, 1681 E. Hwy 108, Columbus, NC 28722.Please indicate Nationals in the memo. Please send to the attention of Coach Peoples or Coach Wolfe.
Thank you for your willingness to contribute to the young people of Polk County, who will represent their county and school with honor and hard work. Thank you.
