Audrey Alexander Collins

Audrey Alexander Collins, 93, of Tryon, N.C. passed away, Friday, May 29, 2015 in Regional Hospice Home, Spartanburg, S.C.

Born in St. Paul, Minn., she was the daughter of the late Charles Alexander and Mary Jane McDonald Alexander Eastman and widow of Walter Dave Collins who died in 1998. Mrs. Collins was a veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Army. She moved to Tryon, N.C. in 1959 coming from Spartanburg, S.C. and retired from Tryon City School System. Mrs. Collins was a member of the American Legion and the Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, Tryon, N.C.

She was preceded in death by a son, Ronnie Collins and sister, Donna Jean Schlander.

Surviving is one son, Michael Collins (Ethel) of Campobello, S.C.; one daughter, Patsy Karczewski (Dan) of Summerton, S.C.; one daughter-in-law, Judy Collins of Moore, S.C.; and one sister, Eleanor Brown of Hudson, Wisc.  Also surviving are four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral mass was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2015 in St. John’s Catholic Church, Tryon, N.C. with Father Roger Arnsparger officiating.

Military rites will be given by the Polk County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.
