Marjorie Ann Byington, 86, of Greenwood, S.C., went to be with her Lord on Thursday, May 14, 2015.

A native of Huntington, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Roby Chester Ranson and Mary Ethel Petit Ranson. Mrs. Byington was the loving mother of three sons and a generous and devoted friend to many. She was retired from Greenville County Finance Dept. after 21 years of service.

A member of South Main Street Baptist Church, she was a member of Erlene Shirley Sunday School Class where she served as a group leader. In 2001, she began her ministry of faithfully visiting nursing homes and assisted-living homes, where she loved and served her neighbors.

Surviving are her three sons, Bruce E. Byington (Margie) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Kevin C. Byington (Rebecca) of Anderson, S.C.; and Mark E. Byington (Linda) of Tryon, N.C.; grandsons Eric Byington, Scott Byington (Samantha), and Luke Byington; granddaughters Heather Burton (Edward) and Shannon Hoyt (Robert); three great grandsons and one great granddaughter.

She is also survived by a sister, Betty Lambert of Waldorf, Md., and a brother, James E. Ranson (Gerry) of Brookfield, Fla., as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by five sisters and three brothers.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20, at South Main Street Baptist Church in Greenwood, S.C. The family will receive visitors from 1-2 p.m. at the church prior to the service.

A private interment service will be held at the Congregational Church of Tryon in Tryon, N.C. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to S.M.B.C. for the Missions Fund, PO Box 1093, Greenwood, SC 29648.
