Judy Dimsdale

Judy Carolyn Powell Dimsdale, 73, formerly of Columbus, N.C. went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 6, 2015.
Born in Rutherford County, N.C. she was the daughter of the late George Hoyle and Ruth Irene Conner Powell. She was a graduate of Tri-High School, Ellenboro, N.C. and later received her nursing degree from Rutherford Hospital School of Nursing. Judy completed post-graduate work at Cooke Community Hospital, Chicago, Ill. She retired from St. Luke’s Hospital in l998 after 22 years of service as the director of surgery. Over the years she was a long- time volunteer with the American Red Cross. She was a member of Coopers Gap Baptist Church, Mill Spring, N.C. where she was an active choir member and served in numerous positions with the youth and missions. Judy was a caring and giving person in more ways than her work relations—she will always be remembered for her “card ministry” remembering numerous family and friends on special occasions.
Surviving are: two sons, Greg Dimsdale (Donna) of Inman, S.C. and Jeffrey Dimsdale (Rhonda) of Moore, S.C., and daughter Donna D. Housman (Eric) of Concord, N.C.; two brothers, Terry Powell (Dolly) of Irmo, S.C. and Dennis Powell (J.J.) of Rutherfordton, N.C. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, David Grigg, Trevor, Avery and Preston Dimsdale; Dylan Housman; Sydney and Brayden Dimsdale; and a great-granddaughter, Adelyn Rae Grigg.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2015 in Coopers Gap Baptist Church, Mill Spring, N.C. with Rev. Don Hollifield, Rev. Bob Philbeck, Rev. Warren Elliott and Dr. Terry Powell officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Saturday, just prior to the service in the Coopers Gap Baptist Church.
