Andrew Douglas Williams, 85, of Green Creek, N.C. died Tuesday, April 21, 2015 in the Rosecrest Retirement Community, Inman, S.C.
Born September 22, 1929, he was the son of the late A.P. and Nellie Champion Williams. Mr. Williams retired from the Norfolk, Va. city transportation system. Mr. Williams was a member of Green Creek First Baptist Church.
Surviving is one brother, Joe Williams (Judy) of Boiling Springs, S.C.; three sisters, Syble Tolleson (Joe) of Virginia Beach, Va., Polly Bridges (Troy) of Spartanburg, S.C., and Hazel Chappell (David Owens) of Lexington, Ky.; Nieces and nephews, Maxine Tolleson Frye (Lennie), Bobby Tolleson (Frances), Eddie Tolleson (Patty), Patti Tolleson Eisenhauer (Timothy), Rita Bridges Duncan (Don), Galen Bridges (Marie), Amy Chappell Hamlin (Trent), Guy Chappell (Christa), Susanne Williams Johnson (Joe), and Ashley Williams Butler (Byron). Also surviving are several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Mary Faye Williams, and a brother-in-law, Dr. G.L. Monty Chappell.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, April 24, 2015 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, N.C., with Rev. Allen McKinney officiating.
Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus, N.C.
The family will receive friends from 1-1:45 p.m. prior to the service in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.
