Probable cause hearing for murder suspect continued
A probable cause hearing scheduled for Polk County District Court Wednesday, April 15 in the second-degree murder case of Jeremiah Lee Jackson in the death of his five-month old nephew was continued until May 29.
Jackson, 31, of 23 Freedom Drive, Mill Spring, was charged with second-degree murder after his nephew was found unresponsive on March 30. An autopsy determined the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head.
Saluda Tailgate Market begins in May
Saluda’s Tailgate will begin next month. Saluda Commissioners approved the city and Saluda Business Association partnering for another year to host the market. The market is held on Friday afternoons in the city’s school bus parking lot through October.
Saluda plans budget meeting May 11
The Saluda Board of Commissioners will hold a budget meeting on May 11 at 6 p.m. The board will discuss the upcoming budget draft for fiscal year 2015-2016, which will begin July 1. The budget meeting will be held prior to the city’s regular May meeting, which begins at 7 p.m. at the Saluda Library.
Top of the Grade Concerts begin May 8
Top of the Grade Concerts at McCreery Park in Saluda will begin this year on Friday, May 8. This year will include five concerts. Top of the Grade concerts are coordinated with Summer Track concerts at Rogers Park in Tryon so there’s live music in the county all summer. Top of the Grade Concerts are held on the Ella Grace Mintz Stage from 7-9 p.m.
Saluda Play Day April 25
The Saluda Play Day will be held on Saturday, April 25 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at McCreery Park downtown. The free community event is sponsored by the Polk County Community Foundation under the Community Matters Grant. Games, relay races, water balloons, hula hooping, a mudslide, refreshments and more are planned for families. For more information contact city hall at 828-749-2581.
