Bach’s Lunch March 11 Wednesdays at Noon Lenten Recital announced

The romance, passion, and amusement of song will be featured on the next Bach’s Lunch Wednesdays at Noon Lenten Recital Series at Holy Cross Episcopal Church, Tryon. On March 11, at noon, Tina Thompson-Broussard, soprano, Caroline Rollins, mezzo-soprano, Mark Schweizer, bass, and Kymric Mahnke, piano, will perform German lieder. Works by Schubert, Schumann, Wolf, Brahms, Strauss, and Mozart will be performed.
Tina Thompson-Broussard is a graduate of Baylor University and Florida State University. She sang professionally in Germany and Switzerland before returning to the U.S. to teach in 1996. She has taught at four universities and now has a large private studio of all ages in Greenville, S.C. She is on the music staff of Christ Episcopal Church in Greenville, S.C. Tina has performed in Tryon several times. Most recently, she sang the soprano solos in the Do-It-Yourself Messiah performance at TFAC in December 2014.
Caroline Rollins is a graduate of the University of the South, Sewanee, Tenn. (B.A. in history) and Cumberland School of Law, Samford University, Birmingham, Ala. (J.D.). She is a practicing attorney in South Carolina. In 2005, Caroline achieved the RSCM (Royal School of Church Music) bronze standard becoming the first Voice for Life medal recipient in the USA. She then earned the silver standard in 2006 and the gold standard in 2010. She is a member of the National RSCM America choir which recently served as choir in residence at Westminster Abbey, Dec. 29, 2014 through Jan 2, 2015. Caroline is a member of Holy Cross and its Chancel Choir. She studies voice with Dr. Susan Lyle.
Mark Schweizer earned music degrees from Stetson University and the University of Arizona, including a doctorate in vocal performance. He has taught in several universities, and is well known as a performer, conductor, author, composer, and publisher of music.
Kymric Mahnke received his B.M. and M.M. in piano performance at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He later earned his J.D. at UNC Chapel Hill School of Law and practices law in Greenville, S.C.
These 30-minute Wednesdays at Noon recitals are free of charge, and the public is cordially invited to attend. Holy Cross Episcopal Church is located at 150 Melrose Ave., Tryon. For more information, please call the church office at 828-859-9741.
