The formation of the Blue Ridge Railroad Association of Landrum, S.C. is announced by Billy Inman, association president. The purpose of the association is to promote further knowledge of the rail transportation industry, both from an historical perspective as well as from latest developments pertinent to the local region.
Meetings will be held at the newly renovated Landrum Depot and will be considered public forums, open to all interested persons. Initially, meetings will be held bi-monthly, with no meetings in June, July, or August.
There will be no membership requirements or dues assessments. A small donation to help with meeting costs would be appreciated, but not required.
The first meeting will be held Thursday, March 19, 7 p.m. at the depot. The speaker will be Rick Wyatt, intermodal programs manager, Division of Intermodal and Freight Programs, South Carolina Department of Transportation.
