A woman in front of Owen’s Pharmacy was struck by a vehicle Thursday afternoon, Jan. 15. The investigation is still ongoing, but it appears an elderly man parked in front of Owens accidentally pulled forward over the curb, struck a planter, then turned facing St. Luke’s Plaza and struck the woman, according to Tryon Fire Chief Joey Davis. The block of downtown Tryon was shut down for a short time in order to traverse emergency vehicles and conduct the investigation, Davis said. Tryon Fire, Tryon Police, the Polk County EMS and Polk County Rescue Squad responded to the scene. The woman was transported to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. The driver of the vehicle refused treatment. The N.C. Highway Patrol is investigating.
