Joseph C. Tirre, Jr., 79, of Tryon passed away on Dec. 29, 2014. He was the son of the late Joseph and Florence Cutler Tirre and husband of Lois Fichter Tirre.

He was a career U.S. Army colonel and a program manager at Rockwell International. He was a graduate of West Point and a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Tirre; five sons, Conrad Tirre, William Tirre, Scott Marlin, Steve Marlin and Michael Marlin; seven grandchildren, Sean, Andy, Samuel, James, Josie, Jeremiah
and Andrew Marlin.

The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2015 at Petty Funeral Home with Rosary beginning at 7:45 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church conducted by Father Roger Arnsparger.
