John Oscar Searcy, 78, of Coopers Gap Road, Mill Spring, N.C. died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014 in Park Ridge Hospital, Fletcher, NC.

Born ian Polk County, N.C. he was the son of the late Thomas Ralph and Easter Laughter Searcy. He was the widower of Alma Burnett Searcy who died in l970. John worked for Stonecutter Mills in Mill Spring, N.C. for 28 years before retiring in 1998.

Surviving are: Children Randy Searcy (Dianne) of Columbus, N.C.;  Susie S. Allison (John) of Boiling Springs, S.C. and Ricky Searcy (Angie) of Columbus, N.C.; his companion and friend for many years, Nina Searcy of Green Creek, N.C.; two sisters Betty Jean Morrow of Mill Spring, N.C. and Annette Sanders (Buddy) of Walnut Cove, N.C. and 2 brothers Charles Searcy (Evelyn) and Billy Searcy (Darlene) both of Mill Spring, N.C. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren Alicia, Kristan, Brandon, Jennifer, Brittany, and Tyler and 4 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held 11 am Friday, Dec. 5, 2014 in the Coopers Gap Baptist Church Cemetery, Mill Spring, N.C. with Rev. Don Hollifield officiating.

The family received friends from 6 – 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, N.C.
