Alfred Brown Haskell

Alfred Brown Haskell, age 86 of Media, Pa. died on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014. Al Haskell moved to Media in 2010. He was a graduate of University of California, Berkeley, where he was the grand master of his fraternity Kappa Sigma. He served in the U.S. Army Artillery Division and was honorably discharged as first lieutenant after serving in the Korean War. He was employed by Procter & Gamble Distributing Company for many years until he retired with his wife LaVerna to live in Tryon, North Carolina.
Mr. Haskell was a dedicated community volunteer throughout his life. He served on the Moraga School Board, Rotary Club, Polk County Board of Adjustment, Polk County Planning Board in Tryon and was a court advocate for a battered women’s shelter. He found a spiritual home in several Unitarian Universalist Churches.
Al’s hobbies were hiking, camping, photography, Apple education, and he was an avid small boat sailor – cruising and competing for many years up and down the east coast of the U.S.
Al is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, LaVerna. He was the proud father of Kay Haskell, Alfred R. Haskell, Marianne Ganzenmuller and the late N. Allison Haskell. He survived by eight grandchildren and a sister, Marilyn Wheeler. A private memorial service will be held celebrating his life.
