Letter to the Editor:

The Tryon Police Department does excellent work. I hope the Board of Commissioners will not be manipulated by individuals who have a sense of entitlement and believe that the laws ought not to apply or be enforced unless those laws convenience themselves.

Law enforcement personnel in this county and this town apply all laws equally to everyone, with complete integrity. People who are used to being able to influence others because they have wealth or social and economic power often complain bitterly when they have to adhere to the same laws as everyone else.
Small-town citizens need to stand together to support our law enforcement and their commitment to community safety.

Please appreciate our law enforcement. They are true heroes and we have excellent, upstanding law enforcement personnel who simply do their jobs. It isn’t their job to make special exceptions for rich people, and they don’t and won’t behave that way. Please support our police and stand up against this bullying. Everyday working people appreciate the way the sheriff’s department and police departments in Polk County serve and protect us.
