Mary Stuart Beil

Mary Stuart Beil of Columbus, N.C. died peacefully in Columbus, N.C. on Sunday, Oct. 26, 2014.
She was born in Johnson City, Tenn. in 1923 to Dr. and Mrs. Alexander M. Stuart of Jonesborough. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Beil and daughter, Mary S. Beil of Oak Ridge, Tenn. She graduated from Jonesborough High School and East Tennessee State University. Mary pursued her post-college education at Oklahoma State University, Peabody and Vanderbilt Universities in Nashville and Purdue University in Indiana. She taught in Nashville Public Schools for 30 plus years. She and Bob loved to travel. They spent many happy times throughout their marriage taking cruises and visiting countries throughout the world.
Mary served as a Navy WAVE during WWII. She met her soldier husband in New York where they were married in The Little Church Around the Corner. Following 64 years of marriage, they now rest together in the Western Carolina Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, N.C.
She is surviving by her brother, Alexander M. Stuart, Jr. (Marylee Cloyd Stuart) and two special nephews, David A. Stuart and Stephen M. Stuart all of Clinton, Tenn.
