Tryon Painters and Sculptors recently held an advanced watercolor workshop utilizing the facilities at FENCE with nationally known Ohio landscape watercolorist, Christopher Leeper. Funding for the workshop was provided by the Bill Ryan Endowment Fund.
The endowment fund was established in memory of Bill Ryan, an accomplished award-winning local watercolor and oil artist and teacher at Tryon Painters and Sculptors. The fund is utilized to bring in accomplished art instructors from around the country for classes and workshops affording local and regional artists the opportunity to learn new methods and techniques they can apply to their own artistic endeavors. Plans are underway for future workshops made possible by the fund.
A grant from the Polk County Community Foundation enabled Tryon Painters and Sculptors to purchase an overhead demonstration mirror that was used throughout the Christopher Leeper workshop. The mirror has proven to be a great asset for demonstrations and workshops allowing a unique visual perspective of the demonstration.
The Polk County Community Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life in the community centered in and around Polk County. The Foundation receives charitable donations of all sizes from community members and then distributes grants to area nonprofits, awards scholarships to local students, manages endowment funds for local nonprofits and administers other funds tailored to the specific charitable wishes of individual donors.
