Julia Smith Glinter, 85, of Denton Street, Columbus, N.C. died Friday, Oct. 9, 2014 in White Oak Manor, Tryon, N.C.
Born in Polk County, N.C. she was the daughter of the late James and Maggie Stines Lankford. She was first married to Cecil Smith who died in l993 and was the
widow of Meyer Glinter who died in 2009. Julia was a former Girl Scout leader and had volunteered more than 4000 hours at St. Luke’s Hospital, Columbus, N.C.
She was a member of the Columbus First Baptist Church, Columbus, N.C.
Surviving are: a son, Mike Smith (Susan) of Columbus, N.C. and a daughter, Debbie S. Whisenhunt (John David) of Florence, SC. Also surviving are 4 beloved
granddaughters; Julia W. Derrick, Caroline R. Whisenhunt, Kathryn C. Smith and Mary Margaret Smith.
Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct 12, 2014 in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus, N.C. with Dr. Chris Osborn officiating.
