Polk County hired interim recreation director Jerry Stensland as permanent director a couple of weeks ago.

Stensland was hired after the county received eight applications for the position.

Stensland has been the interim director since December 2013.

Polk County Interim Manager Marche Pittman hired Stensland permanently, saying Stensland is a great fit for Polk County Recreation.

“He has the required education and experience and has proven himself over the past six months as the interim director,” said Pittman.

Stensland replaced former recreation director Patty Aldred, who had worked with the county recreation department for 18 years before retiring.
