Vernon L. Lewis

Vernon Lloyd Lewis, 84, of Columbus, N.C. passed away on Sept. 22, 2014. He was the son of the late John and Josie Dahl Lewis and husband of Shirley DeVries Lewis. He was a graduate of the University of Illinois and was retired from Golden Guernsey in Waukesha, Wis. as the VP of Production. He served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict on the USS Kidd, and was a member of Columbus United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley DeVries Lewis; a son, Steven Lewis (Brenda) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a daughter, Sheri Boser of Madison, Wis.; two step sons, Dan Kasten (Sue) of Rockford, Ill. and Jon Kasten (Vickie) of German Valley, Ill.; a brother James Lewis (Pat) of Pinehurst, N.C.; four grandchildren, Christie Boser of Ventura, CA, Julie (John) Rogers of Washington, DC, Jeffrey Lewis of Denver, Colo. and Jenna Lewis of Fort Collins, Colo.; two step grandchildren, Lani Kasten of Canton, N.C. and Hannah Kasten of German Valley, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by five brothers and a sister, Earl, Arthur, Julius, Ellsworth, Bob and Dorothy; and a step daughter, Beth Robinson.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014 at Columbus United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Rob Parsons.
