Polk County Department of Social Services August news

Pat Adcock and Keith Holbert were recently sworn in as DSS Board Members.

Adcock was first appointed to the Board by the Polk County Commissioners in 2012 and was appointed in June 2014 by the North Carolina Social Services Commission.  She was reelected Chair, a position she has held since July 2013.

Holbert is serving his first term on the DSS Board after being appointed by the Polk County Commissioners in June 2014.

The Mission of the Polk County DSS Board is to support the Director and staff to accomplish the following:

υChildren, families and adults will become economically secure;

υAged and disabled adults will live in safe, healthy, stable environments and in the most appropriate environments;

υChildren and families will live in safe, healthy, stable environments and in the most appropriate environments;

υChildren in custodial care will have safety, permanence and well-being;

υResources will be maximized to achieve results while maintaining fiscal accountability;

υCollaboration with community organizations and agencies including the faith community, Thermal Belt Outreach Ministries, Mental / Public Health agencies, Polk County Schools, Law Enforcement and Emergency Management Services, Steps to Hope, Juvenile Crime Prevention Council and any other Polk County Government entity or relevant community service.
