WMU at Columbus Baptist Church to distribute school supplies

The Women’s Mission Union at Columbus Baptist Church saw a need in our area and responded. They have been hard at work this year raising money for their Back to School Backpack Project with several bake sales, a yard sale/concession combination and selling drinks during the July fourth celebration, just to name a few.
For this school year the WMU of Columbus Baptist Church has been able to gather enough school supplies to help over 200 students in our area. If you have the supply list from your teacher bring it with you. If not, the ladies have gathered available information from the various websites of our local schools and have them ready for each grade level. Items will be available on a first come, first served basis. The items will include: backpacks, binders, dividers, folders, paper, notebooks, pencils, pens, crayons and markers, etc.
If you or someone you know is struggling to purchase school supplies, mark these dates on your calendar. Distribution of supplies is scheduled two days this year. This first is August 15 from 3 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. and again on August 16 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. or until we run out of materials. Both will be held in the downstairs Fellowship Hall of the Church. In addition to school supplies we will have several guests available including a chiropractor for backpack fittings.
If you do not have transportation, call 864-208-4582. Leave your name, phone number and address where you need to be picked up at. A WMU member will return your call to arrange a pickup time.
