In Tryon Little Theater’s summer youth production of “Shrek the Musical”, we discover Princess Fiona has been waiting twenty years for her Prince Charming to come rescue her from a dragon-guarded tower. All she has is old picture books and a few broken dolls to keep her company, and she’s getting a little impatient.
Remy Fifield plays seven year old Fiona, wishing for her “white knight and his steed” on day number twenty three. Teen Fiona, played by Elise Bright dreams of “his perfect teeth and manly hose” on day number nine hundred and fifty eight. And by the time we meet adult Fiona (Candace Arrington), she’s become a little temperamental, but still hopeful that “it won’t be long now” on day number eight thousand, four hundred and twenty three.
Will the white knight in shining armor ever appear with his trusty steed to rescue Fiona from the tower? You’ve got to get tickets to find out. “Shrek the Musical” runs July 10 – 13 at the Tryon Fine Arts Center (34 Melrose Avenue). Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for those under 18. Box office is open now at the TLT Workshop (516 S. Trade St. Tryon), with hours Monday-Saturday 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., and Tuesday and Thursday 4 – 7 p.m. Visit www.tltinfo.org or call 828-859-2466 for more information.
