Events for all ages and interests at 2014 Fabulous Fourth Festival
The Columbus Fabulous Fourth promises to be a fun filled event again this year with even more activities for the entire family.
The music schedule is packed from 10 a.m. – 10 p.m., and the food and craft vendors will provide all you need to get you through the day and into the night.
The Little Detroit of GSMR Car Club will hold a car show from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. for those “gearheads” among us. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place “People’s Choice” awards. Prizes provided by Advance Auto Parts, Carquest Auto Parts and Larkin’s Carolina Grill.
At 2 p.m. Jack Roper of the daily TV program Your Carolina, WSPA – CH7, will be performing a magic show on the grass under the trees. Jack will bedazzle kids and adults alike with his sleight of hand and humor.
Rides and Kid Games
The always-popular amusement rides provided by ABC Party Rentals open Thursday, July 3 from 5 – 10 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m .- 10 p.m. Tickets and ride bracelets will be available for purchase from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Friday.
The Kids and Family Games share the lawn at Stearns Park, and run from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. The games are organized and sponsored by Crossroads Baptist Church, and provide a tremendous amount of fun for everyone.
Games and Activities
The third annual Fabulous Fourth Chess Tournament will begin at Stearns Gym at 1:30 p.m. with registration starting at 1 p.m. at Stearns Gym.
There is a small registration fee, but the fee is waived for Polk Central Elementary School students who participated in the instructional class. Please bring your certificates of completion to receive complimentary entry in the tournament. There will be four experience level divisions, and cash prizes will be awarded for the first, second and third place finishes.
Prizes and the tournament are sponsored by the Tryon Kiwanis Club, and all proceeds from the tournament will go back to the Chess Club. For more information, please contact Brian Crissy at 828-894-8444.
