The Columbus Fabulous Fourth promises to be a fun filled event again this year. The day is filled with music, games, rides, food, crafts and more.
Amusement rides will open Thursday, July 3 at 5 p.m. and run through July 4 until 10 p.m.
The 4th of July ceremonies kick off at 10 a.m. with the National Anthem sung by Anita Williamson followed by opening remarks from Mayor Eric McIntyre.
E. Mills Street in Columbus will be filled with food vendors, an array of crafters, vendors and civic and not profit organizations.
Following the opening ceremonies, the stage will be filled with local community talent.
The kids and family games will be held on Stearns lawn from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and are sponsored by the Crossroads Baptist Church.
The chess tournament will begin at Stearns Gym at 1 p.m. Contact Brian Crissey for more info at 828-894-8444.
The Classic Car show will run from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and will be located along the courthouse on Gibson and Ward Streets.
At high noon, the Fabulous Fourth Celebration will have over an hour of Veterans events to honor servicemen and women. The American Legion and VFW of Columbus will be hosting the event.
From 1:30 p.m. – 9:45 p.m., the stage will be filled with musicians and bands of all shapes and sizes playing a variety of country, rock, blues and originals.
At 2 p.m. Jack Roper, from the daily TV program Your Carolina, WSPA – CH7, will be performing a Magic Show on the grass under the trees.
He will bedazzle kids and adults alike with his sleight of hand and humor.
The fireworks will round out the day at 9:45 p.m. with much anticipation. Come out and share in the fun and music at the Hometown 4th of July in Columbus.
