The Forth Annual Derby Dash 5K and Fun Walk was hosted at Derbyshire last month. Thanks to donations from the race sponsors and a supportive community, the Derby Dash was an incredible success. Both Foothills Humane Society and the running clubs at Polk Central Elementary, Go Girls and Go Guys, received a $1000 donation.
The Foothills Humane Society brought their “on the road team” with several dogs that were available for adoption. This year, Mia found her new home with a family at the Derby Dash.
Over 30 children from the Go Girls and Go Guys clubs participated in the 5K race.
During the past school year, over 50 children at Polk Central Elementary benefited from participation in the clubs, and the Derby Dash donation is their main source of funding. Proceeds from the race are used to pay for other race registration fees and supplies needed by the clubs throughout the school year.
The overall male winner of the Derby Dash 2014 was 47-year-old Peter Brown, who finished with a time of 22:12.46.
Jennifer Fisher, 33, was the overall female winner for the second year in a row with a time of 21:20.39.

Derbyshire plans to continue this annual event and invites everyone to “Come Run, Walk, or Eat” again next year. Mark your calendars for May 9, 2015.
