Jerry Allen Burns, 74, of Inman S.C. passed away May 27, 2014 at Spartanburg
Regional Medical Center. Born December 4, 1939 in Tryon N.C., he was the son
of the late Garson Hemon Burns Sr. and Stella Burrell Burns.
Surviving is his wife of 51 years, Anne McDermott Burns; a son, Rick Burns(Beverly) of Inman; a daughter, Sherry Burns PhD of Inman: a sister, Margaret Wilson; five brothers, Garson, Jim, Johnny, Don and Harold Burns and four grandchildren, Emily, Nicholas and Lindsey Burns and Charlie Beltz.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Macy Burns and Marie Bell.
Being an avid golfer, Jerry was a former member of Links O Tryon, Cliffs @Glassy, Woodfin Ridge and Tryon Country Club. He won many tournaments and club championships throughout his golfing years. Mr. Burns was a graduate of Wofford College and a veteran of The Army Reserves. He retired as CEO of JPS Automotive and was a well-known textile executive. He was the recipient of many awards and honors for his career accomplishments.
Of all his accomplishments, being a Grandpa was his greatest joy.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Polk Memorial Gardens in Columbus N.C., conducted by Rev. Mark Williams. The family will greet
friends immediately following the service. The family is at the home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
