The Friends of the Polk County Public Library invite the public to a reception to meet our county’s new Library Director, Rishara Finsel. The reception will be June 3, 2014, 5:30 – 7 p.m., at the Main
Polk County Public Library in Columbus, 1289 West Mills Street. Ms. Finsel is from the area as she grew up in Bat Cave and Broad River. She graduated from Berea College in Kentucky and received a Master of Library and Information Studies degree from the University of NC at Greensboro.
She achieved library experience in Henderson County, Yadkin County, and the UNC-Greensboro Library systems. For the past 5 years, she served as Senior Librarian for Public Services in the Flathead County Library System in Kalispell, Mont. She is excited to be back in Western N.C. and is impressed with the level of community support that our library enjoys, as well as the beautiful facilities and services offered. She wishes to become acquainted with area residents as soon as possible.
Finsel is eager to hear ideas and suggestions from our citizens on how we can improve library services and make them more accessible to the entire community.
