After just two days of jury selection, 12 jurors had been selected as of late Thursday with the murder trial of Travis McGraw scheduled to begin sometime Friday.

There were three alternate jurors still needed as of late Thursday with the final alternates scheduled to be selected beginning at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Polk County Courthouse in Columbus.

Testimony in the trial with opening statements is slated to begin following the final selection of the jury.

McGraw faces a first-degree murder charge in the murder of his wife, Vanessa Mintz of Hendersonville on Feb. 19, 2011.

Attorneys interviewed and weeded through approximately 130 potential jurors, beginning on Tuesday afternoon. The trial began on Monday, May 19, with two motions from the defense to continue the trial being denied by Superior Court Tommy Davis this week.

Davis also denied other motions from the defense to suppress evidence.
