On Sunday, April 27, the Green Creek Archery Club hosted other clubs from around the area for a day of fun shooting and planning other events. A total of 13 archers participated, coming from the Charlotte and Fletcher JOAD clubs. It was a beautiful day, and the archers enjoyed the chance to shoot together at the Green Creek Community Center. Donations were collected for the Relay for Life, and $155 was raised for the event.
While the kids were shooting, the coaches were talking about getting together more often, and forming an official state archery organization for the purpose of furthering archery in North Carolina. Coach Sandi Scronce from the Charlotte Ten Ring Stingers volunteered to spearhead the effort. Coach Jim Vennera from the Green Creek Archery club will be the head coach for the state since he has the most experience and training.
Everyone had a good time, and said they are looking forward to coming back for the second annual Green Creek Heritage Festival tournament, to be held in conjunction with the Green Creek Heritage Festival on September 6.
