Liz and Aj Nance to perform on May 11 at the Congregational Church

Liz is from a time and place in Georgia where women did what they were told and held back tears to hold families together. It didn’t take her long to realize that just wasn’t her. She started playing bass in a country band at the age of 13 and soon traded it for an Alvarez acoustic guitar given to her by her grandfather. Leaving behind the idea that you can’t talk about the skeletons in the closet, she started writing to expose them in the form of song.
Aj grew up in Lexington, N.C. where he started working at the family sawmill at the age of 10. In 2005, Aj moved to Western North Carolina where he found himself in a mecca for folk and old time music.
Liz and Aj got married in 2009. Liz did not know what her music was missing until Aj started putting tasteful leads and runs to her songs. It wasn’t long before they were writing together. In 2011, Liz and Aj started performing shows together, traveling all over North Carolina sharing their lives in the form of song.
Join Liz and Aj as they share their own special brand of praise music during Second Sunday, May 11 at 5 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the Congregational Church, 210 Melrose Ave Tryon. Celebrate the mothering/creative spirit in us all.
