Gary Page, locally known watercolorist was born in Tryon, NC and his interest in art began at a very young age. He studied with Karl Lohse, during the late 1960’s and in the early 1970s, Page considered a career in commercial art and enrolled in the Famous Art School of Westport, Connecticut.

He enjoys painting scenes from everyday life, historic buildings and homes that are found in his native region. What we see as a rusty old coffee can on Grandma’s front porch, he see’s as a future painting.
“My art reflects rural southern life” states Page, “southern people, their homes have been very influential in my life and my work. Painting the places around me, realistically and authentically gives me great satisfaction.”
Reminiscent of Andrew Wyeth is his choice of color and subject. Page’s scenes are meticulously rendered in watercolor. He has a unique talent for capturing the grandeur of historic structures and their surroundings.
Page has won many awards including 1st place from the Western NC juried art exhibit and has exhibited in several one man shows over the years. His art is in many commercial and private collections across the US as well as Canada.
Page does many commissions each year. He resides in Landrum, SC and his studio is located inside his home.
