A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Polk County Public Library is celebrating the 450 anniversary of the birth of William Shakespeare with events throughout the spring. Next up is “A Midsummer Night’s Dream: The Green World of Drama and Love,” an oral lecture about William Shakespeare.
040314-PCLibraryMidsummerNightsDream2BW-MThis program will be presented by Dr. Gary Ettari, associate professor of literature and language at the University of North Carolina at Asheville.
Dr. Ettari was trained as both a creative writer and a Renaissance scholar.
He teaches creative writing, poetry, writing, Shakespeare, and Humanities courses at UNC-A. He wrote a teacher’s guide to Shakespeare’s Henry IV, pt. 1 for the Signet Classics edition of the play. He has also published poems such as “Midnight at the Writer’s Get-Acquainted Party” and “Rehearsal: Archibald Mcleish’s JB.”
“A Midsummer Night’s Dream: The Green World of Drama and Love” will be presented on Thursday, April 10. The event will be at 10:30 a.m. at the Polk County Public Library in Columbus and at 4 p.m. at the Saluda Community Library. Free copies of the book A Midsummer Night’s Dream will be available while supplies last.
Sponsored by Polk County Public Library with a grant from the Polk County Community Foundation, the program is open and free to the public. It is presented as part of “Whole Lotta Shakespeare Goin’ On” in partnership with other regional public libraries and local community organizations.
