Robert Louie Rollins, Sr., 77, of Mill Spring, NC passed away Sunday afternoon March 2, 2014 in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, Spartanburg, S.C.
Born in Rutherford County, N.C., he was the son of the late George and Ellie Melton Rollins. Mr. Rollins served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He retired from Milliken after 35 years of service and Pillowtex after 13 years of service. He worked for Bald Mountain Golf Course up until his death.
Mr. Rollins was a former deacon at First Baptist Church of Abbeville, S.C. and a member and elder at Fairfield Mountain Chapel, Lake Lure, N.C.
Surviving is his wife of 53 years, Mildred Rickman Rollins; one son, Robert Rollins Jr. of Den-ver, Colo.; one daughter, Debra Ann Francis of Sumter, S.C.; one brother, Jerry Neal Rollins of Lan-drum; two sisters, Peggy Pruitt of Landrum and Nina Wesson of Spartanburg, S.C. Also surviving are eight grandchildren.
A memorial service with military rites by the Polk Memorial Burial Squad will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 in Fairfield Mountain Chapel, Lake Lure, N.C. with Rev. Everett Chapman officiating.
